Borgata Poker Open
Borgata Poker Open
Atlantic City, New Jersey was in need of something special to happen at the 2008 Borgata Poker Open. While it did not draw the number of participants it expected, they did have fireworks at the tables on the final night.

Vivek Rajkumar walked away with the top prize of $1.4 million on Thursday night. He defeated an eight time tournament winner, Sang Kim, to win the top prize.

The astounding part of the event is that the winner is only twenty two years old. Rajkumar used online poker as a way to get better at the game, and then he entered, and won the Borgata tournament.

Kim played bravely in his second place finish. He walked away from the table $750,000 richer. Third place went to Dan Heimiller, who won $387,500.

The Open broke a record with their prize pool. The $5 million is the largest figure ever to be guaranteed by a casino. Atlantic City expected an influx of people for the event, but the actual figures did not equal the expectations.
