WSOP Europe Ready To Start
WSOP Europe Ready To Start
The time has come for the top poker players in the world to head to Europe. This weekend the World Series of Poker Europe takes center stage with the Main Event beginning next weekend.

Annette Obrestad is a defending champion here and she would not have even had the opportunity to compete had the laws in Europe not allow players over the age of eighteen. Obrestad was still eighteen when she won her first bracelet last year.

Top pros will be out in force trying to take advantage of the many amateurs that will play in some of the events. Jennifer Harmon will be here, as will Chris Ferguson, Erick Lindgren, and Phil Hellmuth.

The laws in Europe are in stark contrast with Las Vegas. Young players have a difficult time entering tournaments in Vegas since the gambling age is twenty one.

Several players who are still waiting to complete their 2008 World Series of Poker will be playing in Europe. The Main Event final table from Las Vegas will not resume until November, so that leaves plenty of time for some of those players to practice before the big event.
