Fear No More Online Players Now that Representative Barney Frank has passed the first hurdle in freeing online poker players from the ill advised UIGEA, his Payments System Protection Act will move on to the full House for vote.
That vote could come as early as next week. If approved, the Bill would free online poker players and allow them to once again make their own choices as to what they do with their leisure time.
"Adults are entitled to do with their money what they want to do," said Frank, when explaining his new Bill to the House Financial Services Committee. They agreed with him this time as evidenced by their vote to approve the Bill.
Although there was opposition to the Bill, mainly Rep. Bacchus, the vote was not as close as the stalemate that ended Frank's last attempt to help online gambling. Frank has moved swiftly on fixing the Bill to avoid it being defeated again this time.
Online poker players are rejoicing over the passing of the Bill on Tuesday and are looking forward to playing the game they love without government interference. "This was a great day for online poker, and if all goes well next week, online poker will take its place among the top entertainment options in the country," said Tyler Hatterfield, an online poker enthusiast.
