In The Hunt The World Poker Tour began its Legends of Poker tournament over the weekend and the turnout was not what was expected. What could have been expected is that Allen Cunningham would be at or near the top of the leader board.
Cunningham is currently in sixth place in the chip count with less than half the field left in the tournament. Cunningham is holding 198,500 chips. The chip leader is John Smith with 270,000 chips.
The tournament was supposed to be over 500 players after last years showing, but attendance was down. Not even 400 people entered the tournament this year. First place will take home just over $1.1 million.
Currently the blinds are at 600-1,200 and the ante is 200. Others at the top of the leader board are Armen Momjian, Mark Self, and Adam Weinraub. They are in the two through four spots in the chip count.
The tournament is taking place at the Bicycle Casino in Bell Gardens, California. The reason for the severe drop in attendance could be attributed to the economy. The buy in for the tournament was $10,000.
