Becky Makar won last month's Horseshoe Poker Classic. Makar took on a field that was ninety percent male and won the title of Horseshoe Poker Classic Champion. The victory brought her $45,000 in prize money.

The Horseshoe Poker Classic is held at Harrah's Horseshoe Council Bluffs Casino, in Iowa. It is considered one of the major poker events in the Midwest.

Makar is a sixty-five year old resident of Las Vegas. She is originally from Lima, Ohio.

Including her Horseshoe winnings, Makar has $155,000 in poker tournament prizes.

Makar told press representatives, "I love playing poker. Men don't like being beaten by a woman."

The tournament did face some minor controversy, as several players including the runner-up chose to complain about some rulings by the tournament director, who happened to be female. Some of the comments on the 2+2 forum sounded like sexist spilled milk.
